NOT AFRAID TO LEAD THE WAY

Scientist
Science has taught me how to be methodical, how to rigorously confront biases and investigate resources for truth, and how to be open to the possibility that our ideas might be incorrect or incomplete. That training follows me out of the lab and into the public forum.
Leader
To me, leadership means putting others first and serving with integrity and purpose. I believe in servant leadership—listening to outside perspectives with an open mind and empowering others to grow and succeed. Under the current administration, leadership requires the courage to do what is right, even in the face of difficulty.
Why Me?
I am not a politician. I am a scientist, researcher, and lifelong advocate for equal rights and adequate representation.
A native Hoosier, I moved to Texas in 2018 and to Austin in 2021. For the last two years I’ve spent much of my time actively involved in our community, from leading a community action council championing STEM events for youth and health equity for the community, to working to alleviate food insecurity in Central Texas and the greater Austin area. When I’m not at a meeting, running an event, or in a lab coat, I rescue cats.
My career has been a winding road: from agriculture to oncology, the heart of Indiana to the Texas capital, conferences to classrooms. I’ve worked with businessmen, salesmen, farmers, professors, researchers, teachers and students, and more. No matter who I’m talking to, I keep hearing the same thing: none of us feel like our interests and our voices are adequately represented. The average age of the 89th Texas Senate is 61.3, while the median age of the Texas population is 35.5—the second youngest state in the nation, according to the US Census Bureau in 2023. Our representatives are older than us and richer than us. They’ve shown that their priorities are the big businesses they own and take kickbacks from. And they’re still not happy—they just voted to gerrymander Texas again, dragging us further and further away from our dream of government of the people, by the people, and for the people.
I am not a politician—which means that I care about seeing you accurately represented. It’s time for us to take a stand against the oligarchy, against big money in politics, and against our government trying to steal our votes, use our money to bail out the rich, and leave us voiceless, penniless, and powerless.

May The Vote Be With Us
America agrees about more than we realize. I’m reaching across the aisle to advocate for policies that benefit all of us—because we’re all on the same side. Our side.
